City of Čačak lies on the Morava River and is surrounded Ovčar and Kablar mountains. Just 10 km from Čačak, the River Morava has formed a gorge which meanders between the mountains of Kablar and Ovčar. This region is famous for its monasteries, located on the banks of the canyon and on the slopes of surrounding mountains. Because of its divine beauty, this region has earned the name of the Serbian Holy Mountain, or Serbian Mount Athos (after Mount Athos in Greece).
